Limited Run: Bolivia Agropecuaria Co-op Fair Trade Organic Dark Roast

$42.26 $49.75

Bolivia is South America’s only landlocked coffee-producing counter and the smallest exporter on the continent. The Bio Arabica coalition was officially established in 2017 as a formally certified cooperative.

Back in January 2013, twelve coffee-producing families joined forces to improve their organic practices and start exporting the coffee themselves. They then constructed a communal nursery on 8 hectares of land with 32,000 seedlings. Today there are 42 producers – 19 women and 23 men who average 4 hectares of coffee farms each, also allowing them to attain their Fair Trade certifications which smaller producers struggle to afford. Due to Bolivia not being a large exporter of coffee, most of the co-op members process coffee at home on personal equipment, sorting and depulping by hand, and fermenting in small containers, then washing and drying them before they are blended together.

Biodiversity, soil health, elevation, and a strong farmer-founded support network like Bio Arabica all contribute to the high levels of quality in this Bolivian coffee.
