Fawkes Coffee
Limited Run: Nicaragua Rio Coco Bird-Friendly Fair Trade Organic Dark Roast
Nicaragua is known as the land of “los lagos y los volcanes” or the land of lakes and volcanoes. Many coffee producers in Nicaragua are experimenting with new varieties and processing methods making it, not the most famous Central American coffee-producing country, but certainly one to watch over the coming years. Agropecuarias co-operatives are giving smaller farmers more rights, access to efficiencies, and advocacy that they have not had before.
This coffee is sourced from the Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarias de San Juan del Río Coco (UCA) consisting of 420 members – 80 of whom are women – who each roughly cultivate 12 acres of coffee. The collective allows them to hit international coffee standards that a single smallholder would struggle to maintain.
